Buhr Park Children's Wet Meadow Burn
Postponed to Tuesday, March 28th 4:00 pm*
Monday, March 27th*
at Wet Meadow I (near the sledding hill)
(Burns in other natural areas in Buhr Park may precede 4pm.)
Join us as we hear about the history and importance of prescribed burns and watch as one transforms the dead plant stalks into food for soon to emerge native plants.
As always, the event is free and open to the public.
*Prescribed burns require dry weather. If the weather looks questionable, check the website, Facebook or call Jeannine at 734-971-5870 to find out if the burn is a "go”. If the event is postponed, we will reschedule for the next day the weather is suitable.

Prescribed burns background information: Although burning may seem destructive, fire actually serves to stimulate vigorous new growth of native plants, control the invasion of undesirable plants, warm the soil and release nutrients. Fire allows diverse, native plant and animal communities to thrive in natural areas.
